As a homeschooling mama, I started Folk and Sparrow with prayer and a lot of hope, looking to help support my little family from home with what I care about. For example, I am wildly passionate about beauty. While art is subjective, ugliness is not from the Lord. I believe our global trend towards disfigurement, distortion, and the loud, crass, distasteful & unrefined is a mockery of creation and the beauty & grace of the Lord.
One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.—Psalm 27:4
His gospel of peace is glorious. Jesus came to save us, and when we trust His death for our sin & His resurrection from the dead, we become born again children of God. He takes our sin and gives us His righteousness and eternal life. This world is not our home, but while we're here, we can take hold of the ministry of beauty and create nurturing homes for our loved ones that express the joy and peace and hope that only salvation in Christ can bring.
